What is a Technical Session?
Technical sessions will be held on Wednesday 20 afternoon, Thursday 21 or Friday 22 of November. Technical Sessions are 90 minutes long and must meet a certain criteria of diversity and audience engagement. Generally, 3 or 4 speakers are invited to give a brief presentation of 10-15 minutes on a given subject. After the presentations, a Question & Answers session allows participants to interact with the presenters. Interventions of all scopes are welcome, as the Understanding Risk Conference will mix and match the content until fit!

Are the Technical Sessions considered part of the UR WCA Conference?
Absolutely! The Conference is separated into two key parts: 1) the Main Conference, and 2) the Technical Sessions. The Technical Sessions provide crucial agenda settings that are needed to make the Main Conference a success.

Will the Forum be recorded or live streamed?
Absolutely! Yes, the main conference and some of the Technical Sessions will be recorded and live streamed

When are the Technical Session days? When does the main conference start?
The Workshops and Technical Sessions take place on Day 1, Wednesday, November 20 and on Day 2, Thursday, November 21. The main conference begins the afternoon (14:00) of Wednesday, November 20 and runs until the closing remarks on Friday, November 22. See the preliminary agenda.

When can we expect to see the full program?
The preliminary agenda is available now on our event website. Abstracts for technical sessions, side events and plenaries will be posted as they become finalized and available. Subscribe to the  UR newsletter, follow UR on Twitter, and join the  LinkedIn Group to make sure you don’t miss any announcements.

Where is UR West and Central Africa being held?
UR West and Central Africa 2019 will be in Latrille Events, a beautiful venue in Cocody, Abidjan. All side events and main conference activities will be here unless otherwise noted

Registration

Is UR charging a registration fee for this event?
UR is not charging any registration fee for the UR event on Wednesday, November 20, Thursday, November 21 and Friday, November 22 (this Day 3 is organized in collaboration with State Of The Map). However, if you would like to attend also the 2 days of the SOTM conference on Saturday, November 23 and Sunday, November 24 a registration fee will be charged when registering onsite for the SOTM conference. Registering for the SOTM conference will be possible during all conference days from Wednesday, November 20 to Sunday, November 24 in a dedicated area in the venue.

How long are the Technical Sessions?
90 minutes long.

When are the Technical Sessions? 
The Technical Sessions will happen on Wednesday, November 20, Thursday, November 21 and Friday, November 22. Actual timing will be announced on the website and via email.

What equipment can I expect to be provided for my session?
We will provide wifi, projector/screen or LCD tvs. You must provide own laptop and any other equipment you need. If you require anything further, please ask, but we may not be able to provide.

Ignites

When are the Ignite presentations?
Ignite presentations are on the afternoon of Wednesday, November 20.

Is there an Ignite rehearsal? Must the Ignite presenter attend the rehearsal?
The main, in-person rehearsal will be on November 19th, in the afternoon/evening (tbc). It is required that the presenter attend the rehearsal if s/he wants to present on Wednesday.
