MapWoW! in resilient asset management

Event Summary

Organization: MapWoW! by NepCol

Session Lead

  • Bishwa Pandey, NepCol International

Description

Date: Tuesday, May 15th, 9:00 – 12:00

Room: C5

About the application:

MapWoW! is an innovative enterprise tool that helps to collect georeferenced photos using the smartphone platform (Android and iOS). MapWoW! is rapidly changing the way what and how often the data about the asset (buildings, road pavements, bridges, road signs etc.) can be collected, visualized and analyzed in real time.

MapWoW! blends smartphone application with powerful custom developed backend content management system and intuitive user-interface. Decision makers can see the condition of assets as the data is being collected in highly interactive and immersive front-end application.

Rationale:

Many developing countries are vulnerable to the impacts of natural disasters and climate change, which can lead to high losses associated with infrastructure damage. Access to reliable and updated information on assets—such as location, condition, and criticality—is essential for decision makers, planners, engineers and emergency responders. MapWoW! can help to fill this gap with low-cost data collection and automatic data tagging and extraction.
