A new website that can help you plan and execute an effective recovery when disaster strikes is now available (www.gfdrr.org/recovery-hub). The recovery hub is a web-based knowledge platform that provides access to critical and timely information and step by step guidance for key decision makers and governments officials, development and humanitarian agencies, and communities who are faced with the challenge of planning and executing an effective recovery. This site aims to help decision-makers make smarter disaster recovery decisions based on an understanding of risk, best practice for how communities can become more resilient to future shocks, and application of the Build Back Better principle.
Access is provided to a library of concise guidance notes, tools, frameworks, reports, case studies, project documents, and lessons learnt based on experiences from global peers. The knowledge base covers a wide range of mainstream and crosscutting sectors including health, education, housing, transport, agriculture, energy, gender, environment, among others. This site includes guidance on how to undertake a post-disaster damage and needs assessment for key sectors to accurately identify recovery needs, and guidance on the development of a recovery framework.
You are welcome to this side event that provides you with a first hand tour of this new recovery platform. You will have an opportunity to be briefed on some of the innovative knowledge documents hosted at the site. You will get to understand how you as an individual or agency can contribute to this pool of knowledge and interact with other experts on the subject of resilient recovery.
