Robustness of flood risk systems
In my PhD-research, I aim to apply the concept of robustness to flood risk management. Flood risk management measures have an effect on the the ability to withstand flooding (probability), the ability to limit the impacts of flooding (consequences) and the ability to recover. Robustness could be used to give insight into these system capacities and how different measures affect them.

I would be very interested in learning the results of your research. What are your methods for applying the concept of robustness to FRM?
I have studied risk perception and am since very interested in various adaptations to mitigate the impacts of flooding and improve the ability to recover... are you looking at more local scale adaptations? or more from a top-down policy approach? I hope you are well, Best wishes! Jessica
This sounds fascinating and I look forward to learning more about your research as you continue. Are you familiar with the work from Bas Jonkman (at TU Delft) for estimating loss of life? He might also be interested in what you come up with for estimating recovery. My research organization at UC Berkeley is also working on methods for estimating recovery (and resilience), though this is mostly with respect to infrastructure... Thank you for your response. Best wishes, Jessica
