Bio
Over his 30-year geospatial industry career, Eddie Pickle has worked with a wide range of government, non-profit and commercial organizations worldwide in developing standards-based web services software, geo applications, and in geospatial data sharing and critical infrastructure database development. Previously, he was one of the founders of OGC web services pioneer, IONIC Enterprise, and initiated development of many of the data layers used in US infrastructure protection applications. Mr. Pickle holds a Masters in Geography from UCLA with a specialization in demography.

Eddie, thanks for the friendly welcome, or at least invitation. I'm sure to be a bit awkward here since I am not 'facebook' literate. But as part of NASA, we do have much invested in Open Source Spatial Web and Data 'stuff.' So, in that spirit, very good to make your acquaintance!
In the spirit of facilitating the infrastructure for spatial data, to serve government, industry and the community at large, NASA has contributed the core technology for such as open source. Given the NASA motto "for the benefit of all" WorldWind provides the core architecture, modular, open and based on open standards, for unfettered exchange of spatial data, along with the wish for a world's reach to exceed its grasp. Our bigger challenge now, is to effectively respond to the vagaries (extraordinary risk) given our planet. Looking forward with great hope to increasingly greater understanding.
