Ethiopia’s Disaster Risk Management (DRM) Country Plan consists of five major activities: 1) Strengthening the National DRM strategies by improving communications; 2) Supporting vulnerability assessments by mapping risk based on past projects; 3) Increasing awareness and education by supporting local Universities and research institutes; 4) Reducing underlying risk and vulnerability by supporting exercises to reduce air and water pollution and to improve the solid waste management system; and 5) Improving emergency preparedness and response. Administration 3 or Woreda-level risk profiles are in process. The risk profiles will result in two major outcomes: (i) Mainstreaming disaster information and (ii) Informing the Country Plan.
