The project proposes to create and implement a national Disaster Risk Management Plan, focusing on risks related to cyclones and droughts. Hazard, vulnerability and economic losses were all analyzed as part of a complete probabilistic risk assessment. The risk assessment will result in three outcomes: 1) Inform the upgrading of building standards for public structures in hazard-affected areas; 2) Produce user-friendly information on climate change and disaster risk to build awareness among affected communities; and 3) Develop operating procedures for an emergency center through a feasibility study and disaster simulation exercises.
